L'Occitan ("The man from Occitania") is a men's fragrance conceived by L'Occitane founder Olivier Baussan while distilling essential lavender oil on a riverbank. The fragrant lavender water permeated the burning branches and wood in the furnace, and the result was a warm and masculine scent - the essence of the historic land of Occitania.

The L'Occitan line celebrates classic Provence and its men. The intense blue of the lavender fields, the red earth of Roussillon, the sun tanning the skin, the siesta in the shade of the olive trees.
