According to approved European health claims, maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal development of the eyes of the fetus and breastfed infants. This beneficial effect is obtained with an additional daily intake of 200 mg DHA, on top of the recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids for adults.
